Permanent band-aid?

So I got a fill 01/09 and he put a band-aid on me.  I took it off that night but I still have red discoloration so it appears I'm still wearing a band-aid!  Not a big deal just wondering why it hasn't gone away by now.  I've scrubbed and scrubbed so the adhesive was gone long ago.  I'm wondering if taking a benedryl would make it go away.  Anyone ever experience this?

Does it itch or hurt? So its a little red, let it be and don't fret.

Maybe your skin in sensitive to the adhesive on the band-aid and it's like a mild "allergy" to the adhesive.

Yes, I have experienced the exact same thing.  I was in the hospital for several days in the Spring and I had marks anywhere a bandaid had been used for a few weeks.  I was banded a month ago and had marks all over my incisions from the steri-strips used.  I have just stopped itching the past few days and the red is dying down.  Doctor thinks I might have an allergy to the adhesive.  He said I could either take Benadryl or use some hydrocortizone cream.  I opted for the cream, which may have helped with the itching.  Not anything to be worried about...just a little weird.

Years ago when my daughter was about 2, she was visiting her grandparents my mom put a band aid on a scratch on her stomach, didn't tell me about it and my daughter ended up with a red looking band aid rash.  It eventual went away.   She is sensitive to the adhesive.

I actually get nasty looking bruises from band-aids and adhesives. The bruises tend to last about 2 weeks.  When I have anything done, they have to super-glue things closed. :)

I have the same reaction to some adhesives.  Just tell the nurse/doc that you need "paper tape".  It's quite common and they won't be surprised.
It will go away but don't scrub it any more!
Hang in there!

Yeppers, I'm allergic to tape adhesive, and that's exactly what happens to my skin.  I have the docs us this coban stuff that sticks to itself whenever they can.  I still have a rash from the steri-strips they had to use on my inscisions.  If it doesn't itch, I wouldn't mess with it, but if it does, you can try the benydryl spray so you don't have to touch it any more than you have to.  Best of luck.  It's not fun.
