Right now my BMI is 32.8.  But I am gaining weight (not by choice). I do follow the rules and exercise 4-5 days a week - I have hired a personal trainer and work out with him 2 days a week but am still gaining. I know I probably need a fill but have had so much difficulty with being too tight that I am concerned.  Guess I am just venting at this point
Thank You for responding

Thank Dr. C
youmade my day lol
He is one cute guy as are you

today the only thing, strange as it may be, that made the pain better was to get on my hands and knees.  I work in a day care, and since this helped, I decided to scrub the floor.
Its like a knife stabbing me in the middle of my upper back!
I can remember this happening a year ago about...2-3 months after my band surgery.  It was so bad, I had to lean over alot...and my crew member would always say I always was in pain some where.  Maybe this has been my problem all along.

How do you know for sure, with out a CT, or ultrasound that this is a GB attack??

Ultrasound would be best, other testing is sometimes needed.

Dr.  C urry.

My question is about hiatal hernia repair during the Lap  Band procedure?

I have heard this is much more painful than the acutal Lab Band procedure itself.

It is necessary to fix this while you are putting the band in?

Thank You,
Stephanie Keating

Hello Dr. Curry,

We have a new member in our group called Back On Track Together and she has asked a question I am not familiar with and or can not answer.  Can you possible help her?

Her question is have you heard of anyone having cellulitis with fills?  And if so, what if anything can she do?

Here is the link to her question:

Or you can answer here and I will be sure and let her know  your answer.

Thank you for any help you can give us.

If cellulitis occurred regularly after fills, I would be very concerned about an erosion.  If it were a one-time thing, I wouldn't worry about it too much as long as it completely resolved and there were no signs of ongoing infection.

Hi Dr. Curry-

Beginning late friday night and going through Saturday, I must have caught a stomach bug. I got sick about 3 times. I am concerned that I may have hurt my band. I have been banded just over 2 months, and have not received any fills yet. Could I have done something to my band?

Thank you!
Vicki

Hello Dr. Curry,
I had my band put in on 2-10-09. I was prepared to have gastric bypass surgery but due to a procedure i had done when i was very young i ended up with a band instead. the pre op education through kaiser is definitely bypass geared with the occasional band specific information. i have lost 20 pounds in the first week since surgery and have been stalled since. i have my first fill scheduled for 3-3. my main question is whether or not i am eating the right amounts i tracked  everything i ate today including setting up my dinner and  evening snack. I am not quite to the 64 oz. of water but up to about 50 per day. todays intake is 1144 calories and 63.5 grams of protien. am i eating appropriately and what are the caloric and  protien numbers i should be striving for daily.
