Hi, BB -  If you're not often  hungry and have to work to eat enough calories and nutrients , this IS already enough fill - you surely don't need more.   You may even need less - so I'm confused by you're thinking you're not at a good ("optimum") level of restriction.

This is what confuses me  :        " I currently have only very mild restriction, but I do have to make a concerted effort to eat enough to reach these targets because I'm not hungry.  "

The point is not to feel a huge restriction, but just to be gently helped to eat less. The band is not supposed to be a hammer over the head, but just a subtle reminder - really!

It's hard to tell the # of calories others are getting just from what they are posting, because they may not be stating the nice sauces and marinades they are using to keep things moist, the daily milk, etc. I always forget to say the 2 glasses of milk i have every day. Maybe others do  too - so you raise a very important point in this post - thanks!

LOL!!!!!

BUSTED!  Busted busted busted!

Sandy, you got caught.  You are posting under your fake ID with your real name.

And to think you *just* accused me of using fake IDs when I have NEVER done that and here you go, you messed up.

THIS is why you were banned from your own doctor's board.  Twice.

WTF?  This is VERY disappointing to me and why I don't frequent this board anymore.  It's hard to come and pay it forward when people are using false ids to spread their agenda and back up their information.

I agree. This is extremely disappointing! This really bothers me on several levels.

I eat many more than 1200 calories a day and have good restriction (not perfect -- I'm planning on a fill on Friday).  Proper restriction does not keep you from getting plenty of calories and protein.

I have thought the same thing when I read what people post that they are eating.   But, I do learn from reading them... I get ideas on things that I can try.   When I first started smooshies, my weight loss slowed way down.  I started journaling on DailyPlate.com   I noticed that I was not getting enough calories & a little low on protein.    When I started aiming for 1200 - 1500 calories a day, the weight started moving again.    I haven't had a fill yet, and still feel like one isn't needed.  (as I get full with smaller portions  & stay full for 4-5 hours at a time)

*hugs*

I've never had a problem - but I do agree that all these "4 bites" people must be!

All the way through, I ahd about 1200 and 60+gms protein. I didn't cout reguarly but did spot checks every few weeks and it was always thereabouts.  Sometimes, if I was stressed for example, i got tighter than i liked and then i would find that I was a bit short on protein. If that happened for more than a day or so, I would have a protein bullet, just to keep me up to a reasonable level until things loosened.

I have to admit that I can't relate to those posts at all. There is no way I would have a problem "getting in" 1200 calories +. I feel that I am at a great restriction level also ... I just can't relate.

While we are all here to support and encourage one another it's not a good idea to compare yourself to anyone else in terms of food and calories. Each person's body is different and has different needs. Yes, there are certain guidelines that we all need to follow, but they are just guidelines. Part of the great thing about the band is that it allows you to learn your body and what makes it work best. When I lost all of my weight initially I needed to be on about 900-1100 calories in order to lose any weight; at 1300 calories I was maintaining and at 1500 I was gaining. I also was eating about 80 grams of protein a day and less than 100 grams of carbs (fruit and veggies carbs ONLY). Now that I am losing weight again after having my son in March my body is totally different. I need to have about 1250 calories to lose and I lose optimally with about 50 grams of protein and 150 grams of carbs.

My point is just that there is so much variability that you can't judge yourself or anyone else based on just numbers.

Also, you have to remember that restriction varies from day to day also. Some days it's hard to eat and some days it's easy. I've learned to be less strict about each individual day and look more at how things average out over the week.

Good luck,
Elizabeth
