Since day one I have not been drinking the protein shakes. I hate them. I have spent a small fortune trying all of the ones reccomended by my Dr. Pure Protein, Isopure, Muscle Milk. Does anyone have any suggestions for others that are actually tolerable?

I like the Champion Pure Whey - chocolate, mochachino and vanilla.  Also, Unjury - www.unjury.com - has some very tasty proteins including a chicken broth that you can have warm and an unflavored protein.

Good luck!

I am very picky... and I love the Syntha-6... I have tried three flavors that have all been very good: cookies & cream, chocolate milkshake, and strawberry milkshake. I order them from vitacost.com.

I never had any protein shakes. I don't like them and my nut likes things to be as natural as possible.

I liquidised chick peas into a soup base. Lots of protein, lots of flavour, variety of flavours. You can make it  as thick or as thin as you need for each post-op stage. Add cheese for extra protein adn a different flavour. Use lentils or soya instead of chick peas.

Hi....I actually LOVE the flavor of my protein shake......I use the Isopure vanilla.  Here's what I do:

I put some orange juice my blender....just enough to barely cover the blades, if that much.  Then I put in 1/4 c. of the Isopure (25 g. protein).  I mix that well.  Then I add 1/2 of a banana and 5 or 6 frozen strawberries and mix it very well.   Yummy.....and a great way to get in some healthy fruit.

I'm one month out from surgery now, so I'm trying not to do protein shakes, but if I'm having trouble getting all of my protein in, and I'm pressed for time, I might have one of these in the evenings....And they still taste great.  My calorie calculation says it's about 315 calories (but no guarantees on that.....just my best guess!)

Good luck,
BB

I really love the Kashi protein powder.  They are a bit high in sugar as compared to some of the other brands people frequently use here, but if you really need the protein, it may be worth the extra calories for something you can tolerate.  I've tried both the chocolate and vanilla, and like them both quite a bit.

Lately, I've been mixing:
1 cup 1% Milk
1 scoop vanilla kashi protein powder (this is only 1/2 a serving)
1/2 frozen banana
1/2 cup frozen pineapple

After blending, it tastes just like a tropical fruit milkshake!  I bet a tablespoon of coconut milk would make it taste like a pina colada.  The above recipe is approximately 320 calories w/ 20 grams of protein.

My husband and I really like the UNJURY.  It come its vanilla, chocolate, strawberry sorbet, and chicken soup.  It taste alot like chocolate milk and the vanilla is good as a creamer in coffee.  The chicken soup is good also for the liquid days.  They also have the unflavored for adding to pudding or jello or mashed potatoes, ect.  You can only order on line but they have sample packs you can buy to try before buying a whole container.  Hope this helps.

I also hate most protein drinks...too vitaminy, or proteiny or gritty or something....but I've been drinking Syntha Six, as ...I've tried  all flavors...they're all good, my favorite is chocolate with 1/2 banana, 1 T peanutbutter.  I especially like pina colada made with chunks of pineapple, banana and coconut flavoring...soooo good.  To me, they don't taste all nasty and proteiny but more like a really delicious shake.
