O.K., I did it...

I finally gave in and purchased the multi-vitamins and calcium for bandsters from Bariatric Advantage.
I was against it at first...because I can't stand the taste or texture!!!
However, two things have happened to convince me to do it:
1.I've noticed strands of hair on my fingers when I wash my hair and a few in the sink when I fix my hair.  YIKES!!!
2.Many of the experienced bandsters who post on here recommend these because they contain things specifically for bandsters.
Sooooo...I did it!  Now I needfiguring out how I'm going to get them down without.  I tried chewing them, chopping them up to swallow with water, and crushing them in applesauce.  I dread that time of the day when I think of taking them!  Does anyone have any advice???

I feel your pain!  the chewable vitamins are my worst stumbling block!   ....I also take the Bariatric Advantage - they were the only ones I could tollerate!  ....what I usually do is take both of the multivitamins at the same time just to get it over with - I chew them up and wash them down with milk!  water just doesn't get the taste out of my mouth fast enough!

Good luck!  I hope you get some great ideas - i could use them too!!

I take a liquid multi-vit. Its not made specifically for us bandsters, but it works really well. It looks like poop, it smells like cherry poop and it takes awful. I hate taking it every day and if the HUGE bottle ever gets empty Im going to have to find a different time. I take it by pouring it into the cap and holding my nose and swallowing. I still gag, but it isnt quite as bad. You could cru**** and mix it w/ a little bit of crystal light or something (just enough that you could get it down in one gulp) and hold your nose. Thats what I had to do when I had to crush all my meds right after surgery, and it doesnt work the best, but it gets the job done. I have only  a couple of times. None lately though. Just gagging.

OMG Megan, you are so funny!  I think I tried that liquid stuff that you are talking about...I'll never try that again!  Even plugging my nose didn't help!
GREAT ADVICE about the crystal light.  I am for sure going to try it!  Good luck to you, too.

i take a chewable vitamin I get at walgreens that is designed for people who have had bariatric surgery.  They arent too bad.  My doctor has me also doing a chewable vit. C that one seems to be the hardest I hate the way it taste.

I do the Centrum Silver chewables and a Caltrate chewable......The Caltrte is pretty darn bad...but I figure the taste lasts for about 15 min....My health is worth 15 min of pain and suffering.

So, what flavor(s) of the Bariatric Advantage have you tried?  I take the Lemon Cream muti-vitamin, which tastes just like a Sweet Tart candy to me.  Then I take the calcium citrate in the chocolate flavor....not wonderful, but not too disagreeable.

I also take the Lemon Cream chewables from Bariatric Advantage and don't find the flavor offensive at all.

The lemon-lime iron chewables are pretty good too.  I tried taking a liquid iron supplement, which may be one of the grossest things I've ever swallowed.  Yuck!

I have the passion fruit calcium which I like but the watermelon vitamins and I don't care for them at all.  I'm almost finished witht hem and I'm going back to centrum!  I chug lots of water when I take the vitamins to get them down and followup with the calcium since I like that flavor.
