Hi Dr Curry, I had my 5th fill on 5/12 and now all I do is belch non-stop after each bite I take. I am chewing at least 20 times and taking small bites.  I was originally hurting and burping with each bite but now just the honking burping x about 10 burps per bite.  My husband isn't too impressed with the current status.  I am hoping you have a solution or info. M

It sounds like you are just a wee bit too tight to me, but it might settle out with time.

Hi Dr Currie, I have a history of severe hemoragic pancreatitis, only one attach. A cause was never identified. My question- is there an increased risk of pancreatitis with a lap band or any other bariatric procedure?

I have not seen pancreatitis in any of my patients, I think it would be more likely to be problematic in RNY patients than band.

I have never seen a true allergy to the silicone in a Lap Band, but if you were allergic I don't think those would be the symptoms you would see.

I have had a 10CC band for over 2 yrs.  Lost 160 lbs....but none in the past 6 months even tho I have been compliant......seldom eat over 1100 cal/day.

I have had essentially no saline in my band for almost a year now......unfilled because of plastic surgery last summer but still couldn't eat much.  Got a slight fill in the fall, then had a slippage.  It corrected itself after a few weeks of liquids, then I got    .2cc , ....still couldn't eat much food.....had another slip.....band was drained completely and I am schedule to get a new band in a couple of weeks.

I still cannot hold much food even tho my band is empty......about all I can eat is  fish and soup and protein shakes.  The discomfort is before the food reaches the pouch ....it feels like it's backing up in the esophagus.      If I eat more than 3-4 oz of food I am just as miserable as I was when I had 6CC  overfill  at one time.

I am concerned about having another another band  put in while I have this situation. Or is this a normal symptom of a band slippage?  Or could there be something else going on?

Thank you for any insight you can give me........

I have seen this before in slipped patients, I bet it is more than likely from the slip itself.

Hi, I started having these breathing problems in october of last year. My chest fills full or tight and it gets worse when I eat. My LB doc said my band is fine and my asthma and my pulmonary doctor did test and said my lungs  are fine . I was diagnosed with ruematic fever in Dec. and they sent me to a heart doc to make sure I didn't have any damage. I don't. But I have had 3 doctors tell me it is just stress and to take anxiety meds. I haven't been taken that stuff because I know it's not stress. It gets worse when I eat. I also have problems eating meat and alot of foods. I have been eating a lot of soup and have gained weight but it's hard to get other stuff to stay down.  Please tell me what you think. I'm so tired of being told it's only in my head.  I know you are very busy but any advice would be very much appreciated. I just found on the complications board another lady with the same problems. It was such a relief to finally know that someone else has this and thaqt I'm not alone. Thanks for you time.
