Ok so I'm over a year into having my band and I'm going CRAZY!!!!!
I use to have this doctor that I could not talk to about ANYTHING. I was misarable for a year. Throwing up everytime I ate. Pains in my side that were crippeling.  I told him about it and he just blew it off or acted like it was something I was doing wrong.
I went to a new Doctor a few months ago and I love her! But I have this burning question. When she unfilled my band so I could have tests done the my band was only filled to like 2 cc's I have a 10 cc band. She has now put me slowley up to around 3cc's and i feel NO restriction. Unless stressed.  So I am wondering now that i am filled more and have no restriction is their any possibility that my band had some air in it? I really think I'm gonna ask her to go up to 5.5 cc's. Becuse If I don't do something fast and keep gaining weight. I'm going to fall back into my depression hole :(

HELP!!!!

Most patients who have 3cc in a 10cc band would not have a lot of restriction.  I'm not sure about the air thing but I would probably go up 1cc at a time and see how you feel.

Well if you are asking me if it will kill you the answer is no.  If you are asking me if it is good for you the answer is also no.

Dr. Curry,

The past 2 nights I have been woke up with reflux, no burning  just liquid. I have suffered with gerd for many years and I am taking Omeprazole 20 mg. 2 pills a day, however I cut back to 1 pill a day for a while and today just started back on 2 a day.

I have 1.4 cc in a 4 cc band. I have no pain anywhere. Should I be worried about a slip or can reflux just be that...reflux?

Also, after this last fill I sound like a girgley drain, very loud and embarrassing, is this normal?

Thank you,

Lyndee

Reflux that is not cured by Prilosec or change in eating habits usually warrants an unfill.  If that doesn't solve the problem then I worry about a slip.

Hi Dr. Curry!  I am exactly 2 weeks and 1 day post op.  I had my 2 week follow-up yesterday, and the nurse said all looked well with the incisions and cleared me to resume normal activities.  I was working in my front yard this morning, trying to plant some things.  After doing some digging, I bent down to pick up a light plant.  At that time I felt a small "pop".  It didn't hurt, and it almost reminded me of the feeling you get when a button unsnaps.  It was right around the area of my port incision.  Is it possible I flipped my port?  If so, how difficult and costly is that to repair?  Also, is it instead possible that the "pop" I felt was one of the stitches inside the incision?
Thanks for taking the time to answer our questions!

It's hard to tell, it could be one of the sutures holding down the port.  No way to know really.

Hi Dr. Curry,

I had my band 4 months ago and have had 3 fills.  The first 2 didn't do anything really except the after 3 weeks I started to feel some mild restriction.  I went to the third fill all excited that this would be the one to really restrict me well.  He told me he was aggressive (added more than .5cc's) and wanted me to really be careful the next few days.  Since then I have had NO restriction, none at all.  Its like I don't have a lapband.  Have you ever heard of this?  He did say he pulled some air out last time, but made up for it with saline.  I'm so discouraged as I haven't lost much (about 15 pounds).  Thanks so much.

Natalie

I've seen this a lot, don't have a good explanation for it.  Just see what happens with the next one.  As long as there is no saline missing you don't have to worry about a leak.
