TORTILLAS OR PITA BREAD?
I AM ONLY ONE WEEK OUT SO I AM STILL ON LIQUIDS, BUT I HAVE BEEN READING POSTS ON HERE AND I WAS WONDERING WHAT TYPE OF "BREAD" ANYONE HAS BEEN ABLE TO DIGEST WITHOUT PROBLEMS. CAN YOU HAVE TORTILLAS OR PITA BREAD, HARD CRACKERS! I WILL CERTAINLY MISS HOMEMADE ROLLS, BUT I KNEW THAT I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO HAVE THAT GOING INTO THIS. IF YOU COULD TELL ME ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH THESE ITEMS I WOULD APPRECIATE IT!! THANKS.

I can usually do any kind of cracker or chip that would crumble in your hand. Anything gooey like a soft homemade roll is definitely out for me. I can eat the crust of a really hard roll. A few bites is usually all I need to get satisfied. Sometimes it bothers me to not eat a roll with my meal but usually not. I much rather enjoy a nice piece of good protein and some nice veggies. If I eat bread it fills me up and keeps me from eating the healthy stuff and believe it or not I would rather have the healthy stuff at this point. You will get there too.

I haven't tried flour tortillas because others have trouble, but I can do NAAN bread, flatbread or the hard crust of a dinner roll. It's true that you have to be wise in your choices, since you have just so much space to fit your meal into. If you fill it up with bread there isn't much space left for your protein and veggies. I do love to make homemade pizza with the NAAN bread, ground turkey sausage, pizza sauce and lots of roasted veggies. I can only have a tiny piece, but it's so good!
Oh, I can also do a very good, nutty, whole grain bread if it's toasted very well.

Between those two, I've had better luck with tortillas. The only problem with tortillas is that they can be high in fat - usually lard.
The flatter, less doughy, less puffy and less yeasty something is, the better I can tolerate it. Crackers, "crisp breads" like Wasa, anything crisp and snappy, I am okay with. Spongy things like pizza dough are a no-go.
One restaurant we frequent always brings hot sourdough bread, which I adore. I break off a small piece (half-dollar sized), pull out the fluffy stuff and eat that hot crust which, to me, is the best part anyway.

I cannot, cannot, cannot do tortillas (unless they are baked to a crisp as part of a "tortilla pizza" I make in the oven). I haven't tried pita bread, no sense in trying.
I stay away from bread......every once in a while I'll have a bite........
Hard crackers are okay but dangerous because they slide right down & are easy to overeat with!
Good luck......don't worry, you won't miss this stuff too much! It's SO much more fun to be thin again!
It somewhat depends on where you are in the journey. When I was newly banded and on to regular food I could eat toasted wheat bread, tortillas and pitas. Now after 5cc in my 10 cc band it's a no go for any of them. Occasionally I can do a crispy cracker but even then very little or I get stuck. So enjoy while you can, it could change with the next fill.
