I know!  I shouldn't have to defend myself...

That's a lot of schedules.  It seems like you will have to decide whether having everyone there is the most important thing (to you) or having it done sooner rather than later.  If it were me, and I was in school-I'd shoot for spring break-that's a whole weeks recovery with no class time missed.

Well, spring break would work out best school wise, but I have an interview that week and don't know which day... so I can't exactly schedule surgery until I know when the interview is... and I won't know about the interview until the week before spring break.  It's frustrating because the 14th worked out perfectly for everyone :(

Take it from someone who schedules around an impossible number of people......

Decide who is key and who can skip-and get the most key people in at the soonest possible date.

The alternative is something that is priority to YOU (your surgery) is going to keep getting shoved back.

Something we all forget, is that other things can be rescheduled to-be honest with your interview and tell them you're having surgery that week but you are still very interested.  The interview is one of those maybe things-and maybe takes less precedence over a sure thing (surgery and spring break).

Also, any time a surgery type thing is rescheduled, I have an inner feeling that it's always for the best-accept what life has given you (14th not an option) and look for the next best option.

You know... my surgeon doesn't HAVE to be there, but since I am his patient, he has never done this repair post-banding, he wanted to see it done before doing one one his own (he doesn't have to do that but he is one of those doctors that goes above and beyond).  To be honest, if we are looking at the end of April, hopefully he will let me just get it done without him.  He has seen me with intractable vomiting and sitting in the bathroom for hours.  He knows how bad things are lately... so we'll see. The interview... I have been waiting for this interview for a very long time... and there is no chance to reschedule.  I do have a very high pain threshold, so I bet I could put on a strong face and make the interview (even if it was the day or two after surgery).  I just didn't want to have to worry about how I'd feel post-op (because who knows how I will feel).   I do believe things happen for a reason (why else would this band expert contact me 2 weeks before my sleeve surgery).  He was able to see the problem that other doctors missed and could save my band.  I am so grateful.  I knew I needed a WLS tool to help me, and I really wanted to keep my band.  I tried to find a way to keep it and when he saw the problem I was relieved.  He said I could get the surgery 2-3 weeks after that appointment... then it was 1 month... then 6 weeks... and it just keeps pushing back.  The only day I said I absolutely can't is April 4th when I have an exam.  So, I guess we'll see what happens and if March 24th will work out.  I pray that it does!

I had a little taste of asperating when I had the flu and then locked down.  If you are doing that, sooner is better than later-you don't need me to tell you that.  I was afraid I was going to do a rock star (drown in my own puke).  I'm rarely scared about physical things, but that shook me up.

Yeah, aspirating is no fun and it is getting more frequent.  I follow all the GERD rules, but that doesn't keep saliva down at night (as well as the allergy post nasal drip).  Last night was really bad.  I woke up gasping, choking, and then progressed to have a massive asthma attack.  My doctor sent me to a pulmonologist because of the aspiration and asthma factor.  So, yeah, they are trying to get this done soon.  It is really scary to wake up choking.  I sleep propped up on 4 pillows or in a recliner... and after a year, I need this to change. I'm sorry you had to experience that aspiration feeling.  It is horrible!

If your surgeon wants to see it so bad, he needs to work with your schedule as well.

Aww man.  That sucks!  I was a little afraid from the subject that you were going to say they couldn't do it after all or something.  So, at least THAT isn't the case.  Hang in there...it's coming.  You can do it.
