Yeah...I know a guy banded about a yr before me who's gained quite a bit back. Course, I never saw him very much so I really can't say how many pounds it was. Saw him a few months ago after a couple of yrs and he complimented me that I was able to keep the wt off.

So I guess we all know someone who's had this happen but nobody is posting about it happening to them... Where are the first hand accounts? It just doesn't seem that common in people who post on this forum. I'm still waiting to hear from someone who lost it all and gained it all back...due to eating around restriction.

Interesting question, Linsey, and I'd love to know the stats on that, too.  Unfortunately, I doubt you'll get a true answer, though, simply because the people who feel they "failed" by re-gaining probably aren't on this message board.  You might find 'em on the revisions board, though, seeking a new solution.   Personally, I think it's by all means possible to re-gain lost weight, regardless of how you lost it.  If you become complacent, forget your obesity roots and how you got there, you're likely to gradually return to old, bad habits and re-gain.  That's one reason why I'm still here at OH.  By reading and answering posts and PMs and posting my blog, I hold myself accountable, and maintain my focus on *staying* thin for life. I'm sure that's the case. My point is about all those posts on other forums from people whove gotten to goal then gained it all back... we don't see that too often around here do we? The people who stay on the board regularly and use the tool to change thier habits ( eating and exercise) permanantly I guess just tend to maintain better...with the continued help of thier tool! ( Except from removals and unfills obviously)

Although I'm not one to cut and paste lengthy medical studies, I saw some statistics before I got my band which indicated that I have a far, far better chance of keeping my weight off long-term with the band than without it.  I don't know how those statistics would hold up against other types of wls, but that didn't matter to me, because I wanted a surgical option that would give me better odds than doing it on my own, but without the risks associated with removing part of the stomach or the malapsorption of intestinal re-routing.  So far, so good (knock on wood). And would you agree with me that we don't see many people*  who make it to goal and then regain it all on this board?  * Except people with special cir****tances...and even at that there aren't that many.
