My pee smells like maple syrup!!!

Sorry to be gross here but this is freaking me out a little here. I've been losing pretty well the past 2 weeks and ever since then my pee has a maple syrup smell. This is bizarre...anybody else have changes in pee smell while losing? Is it the smell of fat be cleased from my system or what?

Did you see Blades of Glory with Will Ferrel? For a month his pee smelled like marshmallows!

Seriously, I have no idea what it means to pee breakfast condiments!

this cracks me up.  If I eat too much of a certain food, I can notice a change.  Have you been gorging on pancakes?   :)

Odd!  There is a disease called Maple Syrup Urine Disease, no joke...but infants are tested for it and I don't know if you can even develop it later in life.  Does diabetes run in you family?  Is there any chance you have an elevated blood sugar and are spilling some sugar into your urine?  Other symptoms would be lots of thirst, lots of peeing, usually weight loss and low energy.  And hunger, big appetite. 

Sweet-smelling is a symptom of diabetes.  If I were you, I'd have my sugar checked. Jean

My pee smells like coffee when I drink too much of it.  Are you eating too much Maple Syrup?

I can only think of 1 thing here:

hahaha. I never eat syrup...that's the thing...And I'm pretty sure it's not diabetes or prediabetes...even when I was HUGE and pregnant I had great blood sugar.
