Did anyone cheat on their pre-op liquid diet?

I am tentatively scheduled for the sleeve surgery on 12/31/14 - ten days from now.  I am supposed to be following the strict, liquid only diet and it has been too hard for me.  So I have cheated a little here and there since day 1, but yesterday and today were BAD cheats.  So now I have to call my surgeon's office on Monday and tell them what happened.  I cannot seem to get through the diet they want me on pre-op.  It's absolute HELL to me.  I guess I will find out if they will still do the surgery or cancel it.  I don't even know if my insurance will be approving this surgery or not as of yet.  Still waiting to hear on that, too. 

IT's best to call and let your surgeon know.  He can decide if he wants to follow thru with your Banding.  The surgeon I work for will close his patiens and send them home if they have cheated.  He can tell by your Liver size.  It's very serious to stay on your Liquid diet pre and post op.  YOU will be on it when you are banded for however long and if you cheat then, you will have problems.  This is your time to prove to yourself that you're ready for the lifestyle changes that come with the Lapband.  it's 10days.  you can do anything for 10 days.  We have all been there.  I had to follow mine twice.  My first surgery was canceled after I followed my pre op during Thanksgiving, my anethesiologist canceled my surgery and then I had to follow it again during Christmas.  Don't cheat. 

A true Liver Shrinking Diet is NO CARBS intake.  The carbs that we consume deposit glycogen in our livers causing them to swell.  Some surgeons account for that and just are extra careful to not damage the Liver when the Bands are placed.  Others who put their patients on a strict pre op diet, expect to see a smaller more manageable Liver.  If they don't, they know you cheated.  I worked for a surgeon who will close this patients up and send them home without a Lapband if they cheat. 

Hi i had surgery yesterday having the lapband fitted! I was told to go on a pre op diet for one week and needless to say i cheated and only did about three out of seven days. I can say today that the proffessor who preformed surgery said that everything went perfect with no problems.
