I was apprehensive about trying one, so the nice folks at the nearest Starbucks (there are 62 within a 2 mile radius of my work LOL)  made me a sample of the new "Skinny (sugar free) Mocha" My first impression is that it tastes like plastic.  I ordered a skinny caramel latte and took the little mocha sample with me. I keep sipping it hoping maybe it will grow on me. It sort of is.. but.. it's weird. Just wondering if any of you other starbucks addicts out there have tried it and what you think.

I don't know what it is.........but I always order a Nonfat Latte with a sugar-free syrup (like Cinnamon Dolce, or Caramel, or Vanilla).......and that works fine.  What's with the new drinks?

Yeah apparently Starbucks came out with a new branding scheme for nonfat sugar free-whatever lattes.  I always just ordered a "Tall (or short) nonfat sugar free vanilla/caramel/gingerbread latte" but now you can save some words and just say "Skinny vanilla latte please!" It's dumb but whatever. The only new product they've introduced in this scheme is a sugar free bittersweet mocha syrup.  I have been staying away from mochas since banding and sticking to sugar free so I thought I'd try this. I'm still sipping it, and it's still weird.  If you are curious though your local barista will surely make you a free sample.  People seem to love it or hate it. I'm on the fence.

I wondered how it tasted.  I've been drinking their "Now it has a name" Skinny Latte forever, even pre-band because whole milk is gross to me.  I like the SF Hazelnut, Caramel, Vanilla and even Gingerbread during December.  I will pass on the mocha with your plastic impression.  YUCK! Tonya

Me too, LOOOVE the SF gingerbread. YUM.  You should ask for a sample just for kicks.. It's kind of good and kind of weird.  I do like the mocha syrup because the consistency of the drink is a little heftier like a normal mocha...  I do think they could have done a better job with the syrup though.  I have bought a SF White chocolate mocha syrup at the grocery store (I think it's Torani) and it's better than this.

I had a tall Skinny Mocha yesterday, and had the same sort of impresssion.  At first I was disapointed, but it grew on me.  I'd probably order it again.  It was only 90 calories, and it had 9 grams of protein.  Not too bad nutrionally!

It's growing on me too.. the more I sip the more the weird taste seems to go away... how bizarre!  I also have this tall SF caramel one now to drink. I'm going to be buzzing tonight.

I am going to go try one today!  I splurged over the holiday and drank a few (too many) peppermint mocha.  I will let you know what I think.....

I am a starbucks fan, too.  I have tried all of the SF syrups.  My suggestion is when you order a tall, get 2 pumps of the SF syrup, not 3.  3 tends to make it overly sweet and gives it that kind of aftertastey feeling.  I'm not a huge fan of the SF mocha.  It did grow on my by the end of the drink.  I pretty much given them up, even though they were my drink before (not the SF mocha, the regular mocha).  I think for  a real splurge I'll get a tall 1 pump mocha.  25 cals per pump of mocha.

I'll have to try that! Sometimes I just get a 1 splenda nonfat or soy latte... that is pretty good too and doesn't seem to have an aftertaste. I think all of their syrups use nutrasweet instead of sucralose, which is a bummer. I don't like the taste of nutrasweet that much. =(
