Crystal Light, through airport security?
I have looked all over for the answer to this and cannot find anything. But I know someone here must know the answer to this one.
In trying to stay hydrated during my flight this weekend, we planned to take an empty bottle and some packets of crystal light to drink. But then I thought - CAN YOU TAKE CRYSTAL LIGHT THROUGH SECURITY??? I have no idea, so does anyone else know? I know they make you show gels and liquids, but what about powders?
Thanks!!!

I don't know. Did you call the airlines?
They are crazy these days about stuff like that. My brother in-law had a severe sunburn with second degree burns. He was on his way to Seattle and they made him leave his prescription gel at the airport. It was only obvious he was severly burned and it was medication but they didn't care.
When we flew in December (4 flights) I brought packets of powdered Propel and no one ever said a thing. The rules seem to still only pertain to liquids and gels.
But just to be sure . . .

You can take the packets of Crystal Light. I have flown a lot with Crystal Light and Coffee Mate packets in my purse. Not a problem. I probably would forget trying to take the empty water bottle though. No sense in giving them anything to look at. You can buy a bottle of water after the security check and believe me you don't want anything to make you get sidetracked to the little area with the place where you place your feet in the marked spots and have them search you.
Also be sure your liquids are in the correct size baggie. It must be 1 quart and must zip at the top. That is not a big deal now really. When you start to go through show it to the first security person who checks your ID and boarding pass and then just place it in to container with your shoes and handbag.
Have a good trip.
