Gerald Levert dies.............
at age 40 from (i believe) a heart attack (in his sleep?). THis is a great wake up call for me because I am 40, and well honestly, its time to stop playing with this excess weight. If it was a heart attack then i know that weight was a contributing factor because he was a big (sexy and very talented as well) guy.
I take advantage of th fact that i can use the band when "I" want to.. and have been playing with this journey for months.... especially since I have been working out and losing inches like crazy.........(I am in a size 16-- at most stores including old navy and target..).....
SOmetime i forget that daily my life is on the line and it is not just how good i look in the mirror or in some tight jeans... (because of some of the work out.. my BUTT is getting round) ..... But about the co-morbidieities that sent me looking for WLS in the first place. The sleep apnea, the fluid on my heart, the HTN, the shortness of breath...etc!!!
In all his fame, and glory and talent... obesity may have won the fight with this great entertainer,,,, and i know that if it can get to him,,,,, it can certainly get to me....!!! He will be well missed!!
Yeah I know a guy that died the same way of a heart attack at home, but he was like 36. Top heavy and weight was definitely a factor. It is a definite wake up call. I know the last time he was on TV that I saw him on his daughters sixteen show, I had commented that he looked very sluggish and tired and needed to lose some weight. We have to take care of ourselves. It is so sad one of the greatest voices of our times. He will be greatly missed.

I will be buying his new album "Do I Speak For The World" as soon as possible. This big "TeddyBear" will be truly missed. God Bless you Gerald and may you find safety in God's arms. You legacy will remain forever in your beautiful music.
I thought the same thing when Luther Vandross died. Then I saw a repeat of a sound bite where he said he had gained and lost 100lbs about 11 times! I thought that poor man. You are so right weight problems know no boundries--young, old, rich, poor, etc. (except maybe ethiopia) I am on a plateau that has lasted 2 weeks and I was just thinking the scale is not moving, but i have more energy and i dont need a nap anymore with my little one. NSV's are sometimes more important.
