Hey Jacquie,
Thanks so much for your post. I will continue to fight for this surgery because it is for my health. I deserve this!!! I work my butt off as a nurse taking care of others and I don't know how much longer I will be able to do it without weight loss. Please continue to keep me in your thoughts and prayers.
Thanks again,
Beth G

Hi Beth,
I am so sorry you are having such a difficult time getting approval from BCBS. The last time I saw Dr. Freeman, I told him that getting WLS is like a rare opportunity in life to get a do-over. This surgery was a lifesaver for me because I was headed for a heart attack, stroke, etc.
Dr. Freeman also talked about the logic BCBS is using to make it hard to get or to deny WLS. According to him, BCBS says that statistics show the average length of employment with a company in the U.S. is three years. Therefore, BCBS feels that if they pay for the surgery, they will not reap the benefits as far as improved health of the employee. It is simply a 'business' decision. One that sucks.
You are such a sweet person and I will pray that soon you will have your approval. Do not give up--get angry--fight them suckers.
Love ya'
Jacquie

Topic: RE: Thrush - help!!!
Hey Kim,
The very best thing for that is Nystatin Swish and Swallow and it is by prescription only....It's usually not really expensive though, if you want to call your md and see if she might phone it in. My md is great about that. Buttermilk and yogurt are the home remedies I know of that HELP...the Nystatin is the best thing...you swish around a teaspoon in your mouth and swallow it and then it helps your mouth and down your throat (esophagus). You will need to change your toothbrush....otherwise the yeast(fungus) in it will just get back into your mouth. Listerine really won't help and may actually irritate it worse.

Topic: Thrush - help!!!
Hey Ya'll.....I hope some of our nurses are around. I think I have thrush in my mouth from taking antibiotics a couple of weeks ago - my tongue is raw and the back and roof of my mouth has red and white spots all over it. My new insurance is not in effect for a couple of weeks and I don't want to have to pay out of pocket to go to the dr. I took a diflucan last night and have been brushing my teeth and using listerine every few hours. Does anybody know if there is anything OTC that will help? I think the Diflucan will clear it up in a couple of days......but this *&^%) HURTS!
Anybody have any home remedies?
