Hello! Hows your FIL? Im just getting in and I am beat. We had a transformer get struck by lightning on Saturday and they just moved all our patients yesterday, but we still have to go back into the building to set up meds, then pack em up and run all over campus to give them out. It is absolutely ridiculous! We have all suffered in this heat and no air and doesnt seem the good ole Gov, could do one thing to help the situation. So if i fall asleep on ya, you know why.. Hope it feels better soon and I hope it isnt the hand/arm you use everyday either. they can use the other for the Iv's, but I hate knowing you have to deal with this on top of surgery! I keep asking people when I will have to go back to Dr. Stahl after surgery for my first follow up visit. If I have my surgery on a Thursday, when will he want me to drive back down to Birmingham for my first visit or will it be within the week so Debbie can take me while I'm still down there? I'm wondering so I can plan my stay, how long I should stay in Birmingham, etc. If I'm feeling okay and he doesn't want to see me for a while, there's no point in my staying in Birmingham. Also, for those who are post-op, how long will it be before he releases me to drive? I keep asking people about the first follow up visit and people just keep emailing me back "Congratulations on your surgery!" But no one ever actually ANSWERS MY EMAILS. Some people do, but the question about the first follow up visit...no one ever tells me that. Please, does anyone know?????? Thanks! Love, Joni

Did you ever get directions to the hospital? Sorry about that. I'm slow in getting around to doing things.... Anyhoo, if you take I-65 towards Birmingham, you will go through Birmingham, about 12 miles past, heading towards Montgomery to Exit 242 (Pelham Exit.) You will see large gas tanks on the right hand side as you exit. At the bottom of the exit, turn RIGHT. This is County Rd. 52 West. Go .6 of a mile straight through 1 traffic light. At the 2nd traffic light, turn LEFT onto Highway 31 South. Follow Highway 31 South for 2.1 miles. Pass a new professional medical building at the 3rd traffic light for Industrial Road. Continue straight through the light. You will see the Shelby Baptist Medical Center on the left. The number to the hospital is 205-620-8100. Beth may be able to give you better directions since she lives in Pelham. She gave me directions when I was there last time, but I don't have a clue what I did with them.
