Topic: Bad Habits...
OK -- No more denying that the bad habits are slipping back up on me (can't deny it when my scale is screaming at me that I need to get a grip!) I am now up 6 pounds from my lowest weight (2 of which have reappeared after this past weekend -- how in the hell can you gain 2 lbs. in 2 days!?!)
I went and rented a storage unit this weekend -- and because of the heat and my brother being at the house, I decided I would move boxes after he left for his fishing tournament and it cooled down a bit -- so I headed to the mall to hit some great sales! Since it was his birthday -- I splurged and bought him a $90 pair of shoes on sale for $25 (tax included) and a t-shirt which reads "You have the right to remain silent, anything you say will be misquoted and then used against you!" (How befitting!)
While shopping, I stopped off at Chick-fil-A and got a chicken strip combo. I figured the chicken was a great low calorie/carb choice! But I wound up eating all of the fricking waffle fries instead and only 1 chicken strip! Ok -- so I screwed up! I should have just gotten the chicken!
Then yesterday, since Buddy was in a good mood that I "remembered" his birthday -- I splurged and bought pizza (a stuffed crust for him - and he mowed the backyard for me for doing so -- so I can't complain about that trade off because of the heat) and a thin crust for me (so I didn't gag on the crust). Typically I only eat the toppings off the pizza, but not yesterday -- I actually ate the whole pizza minus the crust!!! I didn't do it at one sitting -- I kept going back every hour or so for another slice until it was gone!
I've got boxes packed all over the house and need to move them into storage - but this damned heat has me absolutely drained (or is it my crappy food choices -- I've not made up my mind about that one yet).
I did resolve a few issues with my brother -- and am pawning off about 18 cases of books on him (thankfully so too -- I sure wasn't looking forward to moving them -- and they're now obsolete [not to mention, no resale bookstore, charity, library, etc. wants them!)
So how'd I polish off an otherwise crappy food choice weekend you ask?!? How about a nice double shot glass of wine!! Oh yeah -- the calories in that one alone make a coke look like a diet soda! So why the hell am I surprised the scale is up 2 lbs!? It's not like I didn't know I couldn't have what I ate -- but did it anyway! Now it's back to being a good girl -- salads for lunch -- high protein for dinner -- and back to those nasty supplements! CRAP -- why can't we all just be born with a fast metabolism instead of so damned smart and good-looking!?

I didn't tell my family I had surgery either. At the mere mention of it 6 months pre-op while I was doing the research, I got such a negative reaction from them that I decided not to even tell them.
I simply told them that I was on a doctor's supervised diet similar to Atkins (which is the truth). Since your first family dinner is during your liquid/soft phase - simply tell them the truth BEFORE you go over there -- you can't eat what they will be serving since you are on a strict diet! Tell them you're required to drink your lunch/dinner in the form of a protein shake and you're on some heavy duty appetite supressants. If you're feeling puney and tired - tell them it's from the lack of food (again, the truth). Just get "creative" with the truth -- that way you don't have to keep up with a lie. If they want you to succeed, they will support your decision and your determination to make the best of your diet and will encouarage you not to participate in the food festivities (my aunt used to try to pawn food off on me -- would **** me off and I'd leave the table saying "Linda, I really can't eat that - it's not on my diet and I really need and want to lose the weight - I'm miserable heavy!" (truth).
Best wishes chic -- love you!

To be honest they probably won't sell you any cups. It is just different from franchise to another. You can ask the store manager. You never know what they might say. Good luck and I hope everything works out for you. I love ya!!

It might be time to give Mama some tough love and just tell her once and for all you are grown now and can make your own decisions for YOURSELF, without having her input. Of course not knowing your mother its easy for me to say and harder for you to deal with. Mama might benefit fom some counseling sessions with you but then Im sure by now she is set in her ways and if its one thing I know, you can not change a elderly person's mind, once they have it set on something, thats it, ITS THE LAW as far as they are concerned.
Call them ahead of time and ask them not to do anything special food wise, for your birthday. You can tell them you are on a strict diet which will be the truth., and you dont want them going out of their way to make anything you cant eat. Then you can decide wheter or not you are going to tell them, when you see them.
My grandmother has always been anti WLS. I just came out and told her straight up and she was very supportive. I think it helped, my cousin, had had it 3 years ago and went from 389 down to 175 before her eyes. She saw he did well from it and is still doing good, and I think that helped to alleviate some of her fears for me.
You have my prayers while your crossing this bridge, and you will get pass it and move on.

Linda, I have a question about McDonald's.
If I go into my local McDonald's and ask for some small cups and tops, do you think they would sell me some?
I'm still planning out this elaborate faking out and not telling my parents about my surgery deal. Since we often get double cheeseburgers for the Sunday dinners, I have thought about buying some McDonald's cups, mixing up my protein drinks and pretending I got myself a big ol' fatty milkshake at my parents' house.
Anyway, I figured you would know since you were a big cheese with them. They should pay you 25 cents extra for the cheese. Ok, I'm not trying to win any prizes for my jokes...I just thought about the big cheese and cheeseburgers, etc. Remember it's still early in the morning for me.
I am going to have to tell these people something someday, but until I do, I don't want to have to deal with it. Since my first family dinner after surgery will be my birthday, I am going to have to make the most elaborate excuse of all not to eat, especially if Daddy makes my favorite meatloaf. I will be about 10 days out by then. I'm not sure if I could put meatloaf in my little grinder/cutter/blender thing that Mary brought me.
Mary Mapes came to see me yesterday and brought me a lot of goodies! Yippie!
Well, speaking of the family dinners, I need to get off of here and in the shower and call McDonald's and tell them to fix me 14 double cheeseburgers and 6 apple pies. Then I've got to get my laundry together and try to get over there with the food by noon.
Talk to ya'll later,
Thanks Linda!
Love,
Joni
