Worried about Joni

Hey everyone, Joni is still having a great deal of pain. She moved up her Dr. appt. and is going to see Dr. Stahl today at 1230 p.m. I don't know if this is trapped gas or what but she says she is in excruciating pain and was thinking of going to the ER last night but didn't. What do you post ops think...could this be gas still or something else. I don't know what she should be expecting at this point. She said she just isn't able to walk like she needs to because of her mobility problems. I am hoping it is just something minor. Her incisions look fine and she doesn't appear any more swollen than when she had just had the surgery but I know she is worried and unsure of what to think is going on with her...and I haven't been there yet so I'm not sure just what is what. She said she keeps belching and it taste like rotten eggs. Any advice..please let us know. I am headed to Dr. Sherer's office myself. They will resubmit my paperwork after today to BCBS. Please keep me in your thoughts as well as I wait for approval once again. Thanks, Beth

It's probably gas. I thought I'd be in severe pain from the surgery. You know, having my insides rearranged, the stitches. But my only pain was from the gas and it was horrible. Beyond words, actually. My first waking moment I was screaming from pain and it was in my left shoulder. My mom stayed at the hospital all night hitting that morphine pump every six minutes so I would stay knocked out. And it didn't let up for almost 2 weeks after surgery, and I was walking every day. Tell her to try a heating pad and sleeping in a recliner. That was the only things that helped me. Keeping my fingers crossed and praying that all will go well with your resubmittal. Love ya, Gisela
