Tues. Evening -Where is everybody?
Hey...where has everybody been??? I haven't heard anything about Joni in the last couple of days. If anyone has talked to her or has an update, PLEASE POST!!!
Kim, I know that you started your new job...how are things going???
I've been concerned about Sandy...I haven't seen any sign of her since before the storm came through...anyone heard from her? I know that Tuscaloosa had a good bit of rain and wind and some power outages.
Has anyone heard anything from Jacquie? I've been wondering about her too.
I spent yesterday morning at school getting my room finished. Inservice for teachers starts tomorrow and then the kids come back to school on Tuesday after Labor Day.
I'll close for now...come on you guys...give a SHOUT OUT!!! Where are you???
Love you!
Becky
Hi Becky,
I'm alive and kicking. Still suffering after effects from Katrina. Lots of wind and rain. But we still have power. I've just spent the last hour watching the news and I just can't believe the total devastation to the gulf coast of mississippi and new orleans. I used to live close to N.O. in a city called Houma. Haven't seen much on the news about it, but I've spent many, many days in Biloxi and N.O. and seeing my familiar haunts gone just hurts. And the human lives that have been lost. It's just staggering to think about it. I'm 33 and have seen my share of hurricanes. I'm glad I live an hour from the coast, but I probably would have lost everything too, had Katrina hit the panama city area. I heard someone say the other day that their house was 100 years old and they didn't think a hurricane could bother it. Hope she's watching the news, because homes that made it through Camille in '69 didn't make it the other day. Gone, completely.
Well, I'm on my way back to bed so I can go in to work tonight. Just wanted to answer you and let you know I'm here. I sure wish someone would post about Joni, Jacquee and Sandy. They are on my mind, too.
Happy Tuesday and good luck on school opening up.
Gisela
Hey Becky!!! I am here now. I have been busy. Got off work at 5pm, picked up my kids, went to the grocery store, then by Taco Bell for supper, and then came home and ate supper, did homework and fixing to get the kids in bed. I am beat. I still gotta put my laundry away. Frank washes the clothes and he will put away his and then leave mine in the clothes basket and puts the kid's clothes on their beds. Anyway, I better get some more work done. Oh, by the way, my business cards came in today!! yeah!!!!
Love ya,
Linda
Hey Becky,
I talked to Joni today, she is doing ok but is having some pretty bad pains. She said that it is hard for her to walk due to her mobility problems and she thinks some of it could be trapped gas. I am getting out tomorrow and hope to get to see her in person. I can't drive until after 11 a.m. because they gave me my edidural pain block today and said NO DRIVING FOR 24 HOURS...and my hubby is a stickler for rules...I guess he is just worried.
I haven't heard from Sandy either...I hope she is doing ok. The weather has been a real mess. If you hear from her tell her to shout us out.
I don't know how Jacquie is doing either. I hope that she is doing well. I would like an update also.
How are you doing girl???? I hope that the weather didn't do to much damage for you.
Talk to ya later,
Beth
Hey Beth,
No damage for us at all or for any of the family as far as I know. Just a lot of debris in the yard and the tops of a couple of trees came out. My brother in law works for Alabama Power Co. and he headed to Mobile yesterday morning at 4 am. I expect he'll be there for a while. He's to be working on Governor's right in the downtown area.
The most inconvenience we faced was a momentary power outage during the night that cancelled all of the alarms. My parents and a brother and his family in the Anniston area were without power about 18 hours. Luckily they both have generators so they can run the refrigerators and the freezers. Mom said that she went out to the camper and cooked biscuits for breakfast yesterday!
Glad you are okay...thanks for letting us know!
Becky
