My Friend GiGi

Hey ya'll. I have a friend ..... GiGi.....who had surgery a couple of weeks ago with - what I consider to be a very inexperienced and insensitive Doctor - he's nobody's doctor here........anyway, not naming him and not trying to bash him, but GiGi is the 2nd person I know who has had surgery with him and had complications and a very hard recovery. There is no clear plan with this Surgeon, no support requirements, no nutrition plan. Anyway, I am saying all of this - not to bash or judge - but to stress the importance of choosing a Surgeon that is QUALIFIED and EXPERIENCED in doing wls. For those of you thinking about surgery or considering surgery, DO YOUR HOMEWORK. Love ya'll Kim

I couldn't agree with you more!! But you might find the main message board more appropriate since most of us are post-ops! My uncle was researching surgery and happened across a surgeon whom, in my opinion, is incompetent! Thankfully the surgeon deemed him "too old" for surgery and didn't lay a blade on my uncle!! When I was researching surgery, I ran across that surgeon and read what his patients had to say -- 3 were converted from lap to open (1 because of a nicked liver, another he sliced a part of the intestine where he shouldn't have and had to make the repair, and another for unknown reasons), several leaks, a friend of mine who had surgery with him woke up to find that he'd only done a stomach staple with no intestinal bypass, a couple of deaths, etc. The scarey part is he's still butchering people! I posted regarding him when a lady asked about that particular surgeon because of his "cash discount" program. When I posted to her to research him thoroughly - I got BLASTED by his patients for trying to warn her to beware! They raised so much hell that my posts to her were removed!!! I think the worst thing OH can do is censor us when it comes to health safety. That's what this board is for -- to research surgery and surgeons -- and how are we supposed to know the good, bad, and ugly if we're told to keep quiet about the absolute worst for "slanderous" reasons!! By the way, it's only slander if it's FALSE! Everyone is entitled to their opinions and they own their experiences -- we shouldn't be quieted only if it would hurt a butcher's practice if the truth be told! That's just WRONG! Anyway -- I didn't mean to take over your thread on a rant -- but I honestly agree 100% with you! Again -- post to the main board -- we all need a reminder occasionally! Much love~
