River Daze
Hey Ya'll..... Checking in to see how everyone is. I stayed at the river until late last night and came to a decision. We have rented a lot, at the boat landing on the Black Warrior river, for the last few months. We have a trailer, my husband bought from my SIL, and we plan to move this trailer to the lot and use it as our weekend getaway spot. Granted, I dont have the view my sister does at her place, but I can throw a rock at the boat landing, and hit it from where the front door will be but I LOVE spending time on the water, and just being in the calm, quiet, peaceful atmosphere is awesome!
My husband is an avid deer hunter and he can use it as his camphouse during the winter months. Ive already decided next summer I will get the most use out of the place by spending all my weekends and free time there, so Im going to have to save and buy a boat by the summer. Im not a skier, so a ski boat is out of the question. My sister just bought a new ski boat, she has a pontoon boat I absolutely love, so Im sweet talking her into selling me the pontoon boat, and I will have it paid for by next summer. Im sure I can afford it from her and they prefer the ski boat anyway but I like the slower pace of the pontoon boat. I just like the slower, safer pace.
If I could afford a houseboat I would absolutely love nothing more than to live on one! Before I became so obese that I could hardly stand myself, I would spend every weekend I had off at her place, on the river and came to fall in love with being on the water, and spending nights by a campfire on the sandbars or by the camphouse on the bank. It is so peaceful, and relaxing! Her house is only 2 miles from the camphouse on the river and actually they prefer living at the camphouse. They use her house during flood warnings, and do retreat to it if the weather turns into tornado warnings so I already have a safe place to retreat too if I have too I AM a perpetual worry wart, and THAT will never change. I do not ever plan to let my size, keep me a hermit again. I do plan to get out and enjoy life, and I am excited being in the outdoors once again.
Weve already cleaned off the lot, and in September my husband's cousin is going to move the trailer for us. He does this for a living, and when we had our double wide he moved it 50 miles for me, for only 200 bucks! This one is a 16x32, alot smaller and costing a little more, but still cheaper than if I hired another person to do it.
Im excited about having a place to go too, to get away from the city. Ive always been a country girl at heart anyway and if I can eventually buy this lot, I just might add on to the trailer, brick it up, add a garage and live there full time or find a lot on the bank riverside to buy, and go from there. It is also a good investment for the retirement years, if nothing else. A place that will already be paid for, and that, by itself makes me worry less about the future. It is close enough to the city that we can still shop, and get to a hospital if we had an emergency but country living has my heart. I will still have internet access, even way out in the boonies so I plan to treat myself to a laptop, this Christmas when they go on sale, so I can give you guys a shout, when I go to stay for weeks at a time
Love Ya's!
Sandy
How EXCITING! I love the water too. We went out on the boat with Pam's brother on Lay Lake a few weeks ago and it was simply DIVINE! I'm so happy to hear that things are going so good for you. There is absolutely NOTHING like country living. I commute 50 miles one way everyday but wouldn't give anything for the peaceful country life that I go home to every night.
SSOOO HAPPY FOR YOU
Kim
(who is secretly longing to be lounging on that Pontoon boat too )
