Thanks for posting that Jacquie! I could have done it, but I am so totally wiped out today. I just got home from spending the entire day getting air conditioning for my parents. Their A/C went out and, even though that still have 4 more years on their warranty, Lowe's would not help us. They spent yesterday on the phone with them and then today, I tried to call them, got no help, so I went out there and marched up to Customer Service, where there were three people. One walked off, the other two were on the phone and ignored me. After about 5 minutes, one of them got off the phone, but a man had just walked up and she asked HIM, "Can I help you?" No one ever even looked over at me, even though I said "Excuse me?" twice. I finally wandered through the store and found the dude who sold them the A/C last year and he called Lowe's 888 number and was put on hold for 30 minutes. They finally found someone who would "try" to come get the A/C and order a new motor, but they couldn't tell me when the part might come in or if they could install it. One girl told my dad to bring the A/C in and they would look at it. Since he's 90 years old and has been sick and is skinny, skinny, skinny because he keeps losing weight, he is NOT able to take a 24,000 BTU A/C out of the window and cart it over to Lowe's. What a nightmare! I finally went to Handy TV and Appliance Center. Oh my gosh! What a difference! The dude there got me some Gatorade because I was about to drop, loaded up an A/C on the truck and they followed me over to my parents' house, put the A/C in and, in talking to the two guys, one of them is going to go to my parents' house after work this evening and mow their grass for them. Of course, they had to pay for a new A/C, but at their age, they cannot be without air conditioning while Lowe's decides to ignore them some more. I will never shop at Lowe's again for anything as long as I live. What a JOKE that place is. Anyway, I am SO relieved that they, not only have air conditioning, but have found someone to mow their grass for them. He seemed to be a decent sort and also said he can do housepainting, so maybe Daddy has found himself a housepainter. They need so much done over there and I can't clean my own house, so it's been stressful trying to figure out how to keep them taken care of when I can't take care of myself. And speaking of angels who are helpful, I would like to thank Jacquie again for changing my sheets, folding laundry, taking out the trash and she and her sister Gina helped me at Wal-Mart. I didn't have to do anything bu****ch! It was great! I thought, while they were loading the groceries in the car, "Man, this is what it's like to have sisters!" I got home, took a shower, and laid down on clean sheets. Heaven! And thank all the gods in the universe, my mother's beautician, who has been out sick for almost a month, will be back there Friday and my mother can go get her hair done again. She has been FRANTIC. When Daddy was sick on Friday and during all this mess today with the A/C, her main concern has been whether she will be able to get her hair done. That guy who is going to go mow their yard this evening was saying he did all kinds of odd jobs, so I said, "Well, when you get done mowing their grass, will you roll my mother's hair for her?" Of course, everyone laughed, but I was serious. It's hot as hell in my apartment. My A/C is working, but my vent in my bathroom is totally clogged with linty crap, so no air can come out of there. It was that way when I moved in and it's that way now and I have poked it with pencils and everything, trying to get the thing cleared out, so the air can come out of it. Sometimes it will come out a little, but usually...no. Well, I went to the apartment office today and asked them to fix it. No indeed! That's a cleaning issue and is up to the resident. I tried to tell them it was that way when I moved in and they said no, they wouldn't have rented it unless it was completely clean. I told them that there were marks on the walls, nails still left in the walls, dirty spots on the carpets, and the vents were not clean, but she wouldn't even discuss it. When I moved in, I didn't really give a rip about the walls, the carpets or the nails and there wasn't a move in inspection thing and things were so CRAZY when I first moved in that I didn't say anything about it, but it ****** me off big time that I am going to have to hire someone to come clean out the ventilation system of the air conditioning. I have never lived in apartments before where the resident had to do the maintenance. They do a few things, but apparently, they don't clean out the vents. I told them, "It's a fire hazard!" Well, according to her, if it catches fire, I will be responsible. What a *****! Oh well, nothing I can do about it. I can't afford to move, so I guess I will try to find someone who cleans vents. Anybody have any idea how much that will cost? In Florida, I had looked into having it done in my house, but it was something like $800. Right before I moved up here, I spent a bloody fortune on my house, fixing the A/C, the plumbing, etc., and then I moved up here, so it was just money down the drain. I remember thinking, well, at least in my apartment, I won't have to worry about maintenance. Well, first thing I did when I moved in wa**** the wall with their moving cart because it was too heavy for me to pull. I didn't see any damage, so just went on my way, but then wa**** with a $148 bill for damages that the cart had done to a mirror by the elevator. I didn't see any damage when the cart hit it, but apparently, one of the residents had seen me bump the cart, so they ran and tattled on me and I had to pay $148 to repair the mirror. And now I've gotta pay to fix the A/C. It's crazy. I can't afford to fix it, so I guess I will just burn up and hope it doesn't catch on fire. It's not too miserably hot in here, but it's hotter than it should be. At least it's not completely out like it was not long ago. But at least my parents are cool and are getting their grass cut, so that's a blessing. And I don't have to run out and go to work or anything this evening, so I am going to bed on my clean sheets and get some rest. Hopefully, there will be no dramas for at least 24 hours. Love everyone! Joni

Joni....you crack me up girl. What a day you have had. About the vent...will it unscrew?? I unscrew my vents and vacuum stuff out all the time. Maybe that is an option. I don't know...just a suggestion. As I said before...I wish I lived closer I would love to help ya out girl. I remember when I moved and my dryer plug had to be changed....well my hubby was a big dummy and baby about it so I flipped braker box while he was at work and took the old one off and put the new one on. I was sick of hanging out dang clothes...LOL I can be pretty resourceful at times. Love, Beth

It does unscrew. But it's got a thing that turns the vents where the air will go in different directions that holds it on. But it does unscrew. Jacquie said she will help me with it when she can. She was going to have her sleep study tonight when I talked to her. Bless her heart. I don't envy her this night. Would you believe I am STILL awake??? I was going to go to bed about 6pm because I was so wiped out, then I got on the phone with my sister, then my mother and my mother was going on because this guy she was talking to on the phone today wasn't talking plain, but I took the phone away from her and he was talking just fine. She was still insisting that she hears perfectly. I had had enough today and I politely informed her that she cannot hear a thing, that we have to repeat things to her over and over and then she starts whining because she says I am picking on her and blah, blah, blah. I try to be nice...I really do. But if she can't hear, she can't hear. She needs hearing aids. And she will tell the story about how she went to the hearing aid place and they were trying to TRICK her by asking her if she could hear the bells and of course she could not hear the bells because they weren't ringing any bells...they just wanted to make some money off the poor elderly woman. And if they had been ringing bells, she would have heard the bells. God, I have heard that story so many times. It is NOT anything to be ashamed of to be hard of hearing, but if you can't hear, don't complain all the time because you think people are mumbling. Then she gets upset if we yell at her, but if she asks us to repeat something 4 times and she still doesn't hear it, we will yell it so MAYBE, JUST MAYBE she will hear us. We have no problem with her being deaf. We just have a problem with her INSISTANCE that WE are mumbling and picking on her when she can hear PERFECTLY. Oh well, enough of that. I am just so sick of having this argument every danged day and having to stay on the phone for two hours after I have spent the whole friggin' day over there trying to explain things to her. I realize she is old, but geez louise...they were putting in the A/C and it has a thermostat on it and she wanted it on 68 degrees. Well, he set it on 68 degrees, but it said 84 degrees on the thermometer at first. She kept going on about how she wanted it on 68 degrees. I told her about 10 times and the installation man told her several times that the A/C had been out for two days so it needed a little bit to cool it down to 68 degrees. But she kept on about why didn't he put it on 68 degrees. Oh well, enough of that. Then I stayed up watching TV...ALL MY CHILDREN and ONE LIFE TO LIVE on SoapNet, then JUNKIN' on Turner South, then Seinfeld. And now I'm here...but I AM going to bed soon. That's great that you can put in the dryer plug, etc. For some reason that reminds me of a thing they were doing on the radio one day. The topic was something about "Do you think you are a redneck woman and why do you think that?" One girl called in and said, "I was 6 months pregnant, out in the woods, gutting a deer, while my husband was standing next to me throwing up." Now THAT's resourceful! I wanted to call in the radio station and say "YOU GO GIRL!" Love you! Joni

Hey Joni, I had forgotten but Lowes screwed my grandmother over too. She went and picked out flooring when remodeling her house. The installers came out and laid the wrong floor. It was a disaster. My mother came unglued with them. The came back and laid the right flooring but it isn't as good a job as the first time around. Mother vows to not do business with them again. Beth
