Topic: Does New Jersey Medicaid Pay for Surgery??

I am looking to get a gastric sleeve. I can't get health insurance because of a pre-existing condition (insulin resistance, hypertension, depression).  i really need WLS, but would have to self pay about $22,000, which I don't have.  I can't work right now because my weight causes extreme pain when I walk or stand for more than five minutes, and desk jobs have their own set of issues.  The pain isn't enough to qualify me for disability, but it is debilitating.

The one thing I can do is apply for NJ FamilyCare medicaid since I have children.  Does anyone know if they cover the sleeve surgery? I'm getting desperate.  I've been told I need this surgery by my doctor, and at only 33 I feel every day like I'm dying. I want a chance at a normal life.

Topic: How can I get insurance?

I live in Texas and I a self employed. PCIP.gov isn't taking new applications in my state. Texas High Risk pool does not cover any sort of weight loss surgery. I don't qualify for medicaid and don't want it. Credit is in the 400's and I can't afford to pay out of pocket.

Is there any way possible that I could get insurance in the state of TX? Any help is appreciated.

Unfortunately, most people are not in a position to be able to get a second mortgage at 4%. I don't have a mortgage and my credit sucks. I would have loved to get a personal loan through my bank, but it just wasn't an option. I think the medical loan companies are kind of a last resort.

Why do people use these kind of companies?  Is here an advantage to it?

I was just going to do a 2nd mortgage at 4%

I found you very rude as well

I don't plan on spending any money so I didn't need any "advice" regarding that.

Wow... very rude.

I was trying to save you $1K.  Never mind, perhaps you should just pay it and then you'll have your experience to share.

Hi!  Does anyone have the 1 surgery per lifetime clause on their insurance?  Have you been able to get around that to get a revision?  what was your experience?

I'm hoping there are people who have been approved and can maybe give me some insight into getting an appeal approved!

Thanks in advance!

You can pay a lawyer a grand or so but the reality is, those are the contract requirements and they have the right to decline payment.
