Topic: Waiting on Medicare approval for surgery

I have completed my requirements for Medicare to have the Vertical Sleeve.  I wondered if anyone else on Medicare can tell me how long it took to get approved for surgery.

Anyone heard of this? Seems to be what my insurance company uses to determine if it is necessary, and they sent me a list of the requirements, but there isn't a lot of detail. For instance, says "documentation of failed weight loss management attempts". But there is no explanation of what that means.

Topic: Non- Scam Loan Companies? Self-payer in need of advice.

Hiya!

So I have my passport, got approved for surgery and now I just need the last of my funding.

I have some in savings and have taken out my retirement early but I am still needing money as I will be self-paying in Mexico.

Does anyone know of a loan company that would consider loaning to a "fair-credit" person?

I have been scouring the boards for info but haven't really found any recent postings.

Ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Has anyone switched surgeons after getting insurance approval? Was there any problems or did you have to re-submit to insurance?

Hi, I am pre-op and haven't even begun to fight for my initial surgery (nearing the end of my pre-surgery prep program now).  I have seen ads for and read about some law firms that specialize in overturning denials and such.  Even if you are determined to fight on your own, scour their web sites for ideas/hints on how they appeal denials.  This may give you ideas on how to fight your case.  Good luck.
