Approved in 1 day!!!!!!!

My surgeon's office sent all of my info in 4/13 & I called 4/17 to see what was what...the rep told me I was approved as of the 14th!!!!! I am so thrilled !!!!! I have read so many scary stories, I feel so relieved.

Hello, Congratulations!! Can I ask who was your insurance carrier? I am still struggling with approval for surgery thru UHC, Choice Plus, Thanks, Sheila

I have CIGNA PPO. My suggestion is just follow ALL of your insurance company's rules & just be patient & stay encouraged.

Thank you very much!! My mom has UHC in CT and she had no trouble getting approved. She had surgery April 18th. It took her a couple of weeks to get approved but once they did everything was fine. Good luck to you too

Just sent in my second appeal, this time with the help of an attorney, keep your fingers crossed and wish us luck, I'll let you know if anything turns in our favor, you do the same?

That's great news! I have CIGNA too, and am just starting out. Can you please tell me what they expected (and what you submitted) as far as proving you had tried dieting? Thanks, and much good luck to you!

HI!!!!!!!! CIGNA required 6 months physcian supervised weight loss program, a psych consult & a letter from my pcp...... I did seven visits with a nutritionist for 6 months worth of weight loss info. I only lost 3 lbs (pretty sad) but the nutritionist had a log that included weight loss,the diet I was following, exercise info & medications I was taking (I take steroids for my asthma which affects my weight loss) My physcian & my surgeon signed off on her paperwork. My pcp wrote the letter & I had the visit w/ the therapist(psych consult) It's funny my mom has US Healthcare,we both started this journey in Oct,she was approved in November but w/ all the appts she had to complete she was just able to get a date in April.I had to do the 6 months but during that time I completed all the tests. I could have had the surgery this month but had prior work committments--so my point after that long winded message is that the 6 months breezes by. My surgery date is June 20th. Hi Nikki, I am so glad to hear that someone that has Cigna PPO got approved ASAP Good Luck to you! I have been trying for about 9 months and had to get an Atty an do an appeal!! I did EVERYTHING THEY ASKED AND WAS STILL DENIED I'm hoping to get Lap Band Surgery soon! Wish me luck! AJ
