WHY, WHY, WHY???

Hello All, I received a call from the Psychologist office......BCBS says they will not pay for any services associated with the Lap Band surgery!?!?!?! I am so aggravated! When I began my journey, this time around, I called BCBS to confirm that they do cover Lap Band under my policy and I was told they did! I also called the person in charge of the insurance at my husbands place of employment and she told me they do cover it under the policy?!?! Needless to say, when I received the call today, I was very unhappy. Now it's a waiting game. The HR person is out until Monday, April 24th...the day of my appointment that I now have to reschedule!!!!! Well I am trying to relax for now and wait till Monday to see what I need to do. I get so worked up and think everything is OK then I hit another road block! Any advise? Have any of you had this problem? Thanks in advance for your help. Ann

Hi Ann, You are not alone!!!!!! My dreams of having Lap Band surgery started almost a year ago!! I went to one doctor and was told by the Insurance person that they had contacted my carrier (CignaPPO) and I was covered and was approved!! The office was far away from my home and I had gotten a referral to a great doctor that was only 10 mins away from my home, so I decided to go with him. After all my paperwork, exams, etc, were completed I was denied!!! I thought how could that be, when another office told me Cigna had approved me!! I has so upset! After much research and advice, I am appealing with the help of an attorney. Some are very fortunate the be approved right away. For me, it's been a waiting game with lots of ups and downs. Don't give up!! Insurance co.'s don't want to pay for WLS and they will make you jump through hoops to get approved!! I've been told again and again that I am not alone. The key is to be consistent and GET THE NAME AND NUMBER OF EVERYONE YOU SPEAK TO AT THE INSURANCE CO!! I have been on a rollercoaster for almost a year and I am determined to have this surgery!!!
