Secondary Insurance?

My primary insurance has paid on my RNY but because my secondary doesn't cover gastric bypass surgery, they are not paying anything. Is this right? Why do we ever have secondary if they don't have to pay. Can anyone give me some information on this. I don't know what to do. Thanks, Jan Brown

If you have an ironclad exclusion, they could be able to refuse to cover the surgery, but you need to check their wording to be sure. Be aware that most companies will initially deny the surgery, even if they do cover in some instances, and in that case, there may still be a chance of coverage if you jump through all their hoops. You need to get more information to be certain.
