I just wanted to say to those of you fighting insurance. Never give up. I was self pay for surgery but, a year later my ex-employer has decided to cover it. Don't ever give up hope! It can happen. See the press release below from Gary Viscio, and "Ms. A" mentioned is ME!!!! WOW...who would ever thought our fight paved the way for other employee's. I'm so proud! If you have Harrah's (work for them etc) for your insurance, you should know that they do cover the surgery as an option to be added to your plan. Viscio & Associates, www.ObesityLawyers.Com is pleased to announce that a year after negotiations and advocacy, Harrah's Entertainment, will offer weight loss surgery as an option includable with health insurance plans. Previously, Harrah's, a Self Funded ERISA Governed employer and provider of health benefits to thousands of it's employees excluded coverage for any type of weight loss surgery or treatment from all of its insurance plans. During the Summer of 2005 Mr. Viscio met with several of Harrah's employees and undertook a personal campaign to change Harrah's current coverage options. After lengthy negotiations we have been advised that Harrah's will now offer the option of weight loss surgery to its employees. A client of the firm, Ms. A., was notified last week by Harrahs that as a result of the discussions Mr. Viscio had undertaken with the Company, Harrah's has decided to offer this option. "This will open the doors to many more employees who want this Surgery" Mr Viscio told a reporter from the CBS Health News. "I'd love to work with these carriers and help them open their eyes. They're saving lives and money at the same time. It's a win win situation." The efforts of the firm continue in Washington DC and across the Country.
