insurance problems...
Hello everyone
its me...
I am all ready for my surgery.
My insurance company told my surgeon
that they covered the surgery.
After I did a million tests, they go to submit
everything to anthem bc/bs and they tell them
not to bother, I have an exclusion and they
can't even do anything. I got in touch with the
obesity lawyer, he said when you have an iron clad
exclusion like i did, you really can't fight it.
so here i am, all ready to go, ( I even have that blood
clot filter in) and no way to pay for surgery.
I have been to vocational rehab, but not heard anything.
someone suggested Ky access, but I cant find anyone
who had it and got the wls.
to make matters worse, I had a stroke last summer,
i had physical therapy. I have a big long list of co-morbs,
i still have right side weakness, and walk funny, and
can you beleive that after seven months i got denied disability?
even though my doctor said I can't work? what do i do now?
any suggestions??? I need this surgery. I can't give up.
thanks for listening....
Kim
I also sent you a email , please don't give up, when one door closes another will open, make sure you go to vocational rehab, there is a girl on the gay and lesbian page who just had her surgery that way here is a link to her page. She is really nice she can answer question for you. http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/members/profile.php?N=H1109974671 ,
I will pray for you .
Hi Kim,
So sorry you are having all these problems. I had to fight my insurance company for 15 months before getting an approval, so my heart goes out to you. It's so infuriating that these companies will probably pay a lot more for all of the medical problems that have their root in the obesity, but won't pay for the one hope we have of conquering that disease. Of course, they are hoping that by the time all the other problem**** they will have moved on and not have to pay for those either.
I will keep you in my prayers and hope something good happens. Please don't give up. Is your insurance through an employer? If so, maybe you could appeal to them for some sort of exemption - it certainly couldn't hurt anything. I'd keep fighting for the disability too - most of these companies deny everything almost automatically, just to see who will give up and walk away. They want to discourage and hassle people as much as possible to make them give up. What does your exclusion say?
Hang in there and keep fighting the good fight.
