Has anyone tried to get WLS approval thru BCBS PPO thru TX Utilities? I have talked with them, they said they would cover the surgery if I met the requirements. I have done all the pre-op and met dr.'s criteria. But now I can't get the dr.'s office to even submit my application because I don't have the 12-mo. dr. supervised diet recorded on my records. Well, I've got 40 years worth of diets, many of them dr. supervised. The 5 years records I submitted have got recorded weights on every visit but very few dr notes re a formal weight plan. I would like for the dr. office to at least submit my app and then let me deal with the appeal or a waiver or at least a modification of the length of time. I'm old!! I don't want to wait another year!!

Good luck on fighting them because the insurance company won't touch it until you show proof of that diet. I got screwed around as they told me 6 months of dieting and then turned around and changed it at the first of the year and said a year of dieting so I had to go through another 6 months of dieting but it was well worth the wait and the time went by pretty fast. Do the diet and don't delay with lawyers. If that's all they are asking then your in pretty good shape. Donna 338/153

Thanks,Donna. Someone else gold me the same thing....just do what they say - it's the quickest way. I am sure it's probably the healthiest way, too. Just very disappointing. The dr. office did submit my app to BCBS and told me to ck with them in 10 work days. So, I'll just see what happens next. Looks like you are doing GREAT!!! Best wishes for a happy new life!!
