Supplemental/Secondary Insurance?

I found out this week that my insurance policy excludes anything with weight loss. I am a state employee and I was told right when I was being scheduled for a consultation that no one with the state plan ever got approved. I need to have this surgery, but I have no chance with my insurance. This being said, is it possible to maybe obtain supplemental/secondary insurance and have them cover the surgery? Has anyone ever heard of this being done before? Paying for it outright is not possible for me unless I win the lottery.

I'm sorry I don't have a definite answer for you, but this is what I'm looking into as well. I have United Health Care and my plan excludes anything having to do w/weight loss ...so I'm looking into either bc/bs or harvard pilgrim or something like that...I'll let you know if I have any luck ...you do the same please! ...I HAVE heard of someone doing this before though! So I think it WOULD work!
