After 19 months of fighting- APPROVED

Whatever you do- DO NOT GIVE UP. I invite you all to read my profile. I have fought so hard the past 19 months to have this surgery. I have gone through 5 denials, changed jobs and completed a 12 month supervised diet to get to this point. Officially yesterday I can say that I AM APPROVED. My surgery date is Jan 27. Keep Fighting!

I am so happy to hear that! Do you still have BCBS of IL? You are giving me hope. I'm still jumping through hoops!

Carolina, Where are you in the process? It only took them about a week 1/2 to review my paperwork and approve me.

HURRAY FOR YOU Sounds like me. I NEVER gave up and I was not going to stand by and let them screw me over. I did end up having to pay out some money of my own as my husbands insurance company turned nasty on me after I had the surgery and refused to pay some of the bills but that's OK with me as I got my health and life back and that's all that matters Donna 338/153

I am so hally for you, You have given me hope, I am fighting right now, I've been denied twice already with 2 different insurance, Aetna and now Affinity..I am fighting with affinity now they denied me in oct 2005 for inacurrate weight chart and a clearance letter from the GYN, so now I am doing a 6 month supervised diet is what they requested, but I refuse to give up right now, i have come to far.....but goodluck to you, I hope to have some good news as well in the future

I am so happy for you!!!!! I have been trying for years myself. after 18 months, of doing all the tests and stuff, i find out about my exclusions and stuff... maybe you can read my post and help me???? Kim- I am just getting this post as it never came to my e-mail. Your profile is a little out of date so I am not sure where you are right now in the process. I guess my question is - Why did the insurance company say that you were not eligible? What do you need to do to be eligible? Beth

I know how you feel I fought for 2 1/2 I was finally approved 1/13 surgery schedule for 3/23 , I am so happy for you .
