Amerihealth - anyone have experience with?

Aetna has denied, denied and denied again all of my appeals, due to not being mo for 5 years, only 3! The part that to me really stinks is that my employer does have the wls clause coverage (that they pay extra for). August is when I can switch over but I don't want to if I have the same problem. This is a long, exhausting trip, to say the least! Deb

I live in NJ and I have Amerihealth Administrators PPO not sure if they are the same but i had my surgery on 3/3/05 and i had no problem with insurance approval. Maybe you should talk with someone that you know at your job that has Amerihealth, and if possible ask them if they could call customer service and find out the criteria for WLS just a thought of course only if it is someone you trust or you could always go into human resources and talk with your benefits rep from your employer and have them find out more information for you. Hope this helps. Tyshea 315/189/150

Hi Deb, I had my surgery on 10/10/05 and I have Amerihealth HMO. They approved it very quickly with no hassle at all. My surgeon's office said that they are their favorite company to deal with because they usually approve wls, and they pay very well. Carol

I finally got my approval through Amerihealth, I became a member on 8/1/06 and was approved on 8/3/06, after being denied numerous times with Aetna.  And, I didn't need the 5 years 40 bmi. Now I just have to have six consecutive weeks using my cpak before I can get a surgery date, but that's fine with me. Deb
