Any experience w/Canadian insurance?

I've decided to take the step and I spoke with my Dr. about surgery. She told me the first step is applying for Prior Approval Application For Full Payment Of Insured Out Of Country Health Servies. She fills out then submits and I wait for denial or approval. Anyone out there have any denials? I guess I'm expecting the worst. Thanks

I, too am from Canada. I have been thinking about this surgery for quite some time and finally saw my family doctor about it. He advised me to get the Prior Approval Application Form (Out of Country) and we filled out the form together. I was denied! I'm so disappointed, I am sick and tired of being obese. I need to lose approximately 100 pounds, have asthma, COPD, arthritis, fibromyalsia, high blood pressure, border line diabetic, etc. I got another form and and looking for anyone out there who can tell me what should be put on this form, in order for me to have WLS! Help me please!!!!!

When you submitted your form did you or your doctor add a letter or anything above and beyond the form? Did they give you a reason for being denied and how long did it take from the time the form was submitted until the time you received your denial? I will keep my fingers crossed for you and please keep me updated. Christina P.S I hand in my form next week. I had some health issues arise so it had to be delayed. I'm nervous, just to submit my form. How silly, eh?

Thank you Christina C. When my forms were sent nothing else was sent along to OHIP. Basically they said, the surgery could be performed in Ontario. However, they forgot to tell me the wait is 10 years or more!!! This is totally unexceptable to me. I will send a letter and have my doctor send a strong letter advising that if I don't have this surgery, then my chances of living are gone! When the forms were sent it was July 15, 2005 and mt rejection letter was sent to me in July 28, 2005. I'm not giving up, I'm sending my letter today!!!
