Congrats on the win, but what was your situation? Were you just denied? did you have an exclusion?

Hi Karen: How Ironic! I have been denied by CIGNA twice now and their appeals department is in Scranton PA. I'm going to chime in with everyone else and ask for more details on your case. This can be a big help to the rest of us who are fighting with approvial with our insurance. Do you mind me asking how much did you have to pay for the lawyer? I have been thinking that this is the only way to go in my case, but I'm already out $1200 out of my pocket for the Life Skills classes, evaluations from dietitian and psychologist so I hope it's not to much. So far I have had to do everything myself, appeals letter ect. Rosemary Aument

Rosemary, Karen's insurance is BCBS, not CIGNA. Where they're located doesn't matter. I hate being discouraging but I had CIGNA and exhausted all my appeals. I used a lawyer ($500) and it didn't help. I don't think Gary Viscio was advertising his practice at the time and I'm reading really good things about him. Good luck. I changed my insurance to BCBS and was approved in five months with no lawyers needed....

Well, I have CIGNA and even though it took me for what feels like forever to get my claim entered into their system & the fact that they wanted me to complete the 6 month diet (which I did) I was approved after the 1st try. Rosemary, I'm not sure what you've completed as far as their requirements go, but I was told by my friend that works for CIGNA that if you complete the requirements, most of the time they will approve you. However, I do know there are alot of people that complete everything and are denied. I guess it's just a matter of luck and what mood the examiner is in...Sorry....Good luck with them!
