Post-Op insurance for Self-Employed?????

Has anyone tried to get health insurance coverage post-WLS as a self-employed individual? My family has always had health coverage through my husbands work...Dell Co. Inc...but, he is wanting to leave Dell and is going to open up his own business...so, we need independent, self-employed health coverage. He has called several big insurance companies and they ALL say..."we won't cover your wife because she had a gastric bypass.".....so, what the heck do you do in this situation? They'll cover me when I'm 400 lbs. and always having health problems, but won't cover me now that I weigh 160 lbs. and have NO health problems! It's crazy! I would appreciate any feedback from someone that might have some ideas/answers for me regarding this issue. Thanks! ~Joanie in Tx.
