Did anyone get approved by weight only with no major co-morbidities. My primary physician thinks even though both him & I agree I should have the surgery, he thinks my insurance will not approve me because I don't have high blood pressure, arthritis, heart disease or diabetes. However, I do have high cholesterol, a connective tissue disease that affects my joints, ankle & feet pain, urinary incontinence and hypothyroidism. Also, my grandmother died at 49 from heart disease and my mother has had heart conditions since she was 30 and she has always been thin. Any recommendations??

High cholesterol. Connective tissue disease that affects your joints, ankle and feet plus urinary incontinence and hypothyroidism I would think would be enough. Have you been tested for sleep apnea? Some people have NOTHING wrong with them but being obese and they get approved. GO FOR IT!! I did not have high blood pressure, heart disease or diabetes and I got approved. I was on the borderline of becoming a diabetic. Donna 338/188 -150

Thanks Donna, I am definitely going for it, I have an appointment on Thursday, but I am just afraid to get my hopes up. I have been tested for sleep apnea three times because of the extreme fatigue I suffer from, I was told that I do not have sleep apnea but I do have restless leg syndrome. I hope my insurance company can see that this surgery will be a preventive for future conditions and will help relieve the ones I currently have. Thanks for your support. Shannon

I don't have any major co-morbs and I was approved. I only have some pain in my feet and headache's. I know I have sleep apnea but I was never tested for it. You have alot of co-morb's so insurance approval should'nt be a problem. Good luck to you!
