United Healthcare Insurance

To all recent post-ops or pre-ops that have United Healthcare Insurance, Could you please tell me if your group has more or less than 50 members. It seems that the reason there is an exclusion in our policy is because it is a small group. Please let me know asap because my telephone conference for 2nd level appeal is tomorrow morning. I also have UHC Choice HMO throught my husbands employer, Fox Entertainment. That company has thousands of employees. I am fighting an exclusion myself right now although they have not sent me a letter of denial yet, but it sounds like they will. My fight is because the wording in the certificate of coverage document leaves it open to cover surgery for morbid obesity, in my opinion. Let me know if I can help or give you my experience. I am having the same problem with UniCare (I don't know if they are the same company or not, I can't really get a straight answer on that question, but I don't think so,.....). Right now, my fight is in the hands of the Attorny General's office's Health Care division. My mediator called me on Wednesday, and it sounds like he is really going to read my information and actually try to help. I will keep everyone posted about the outcome. I am arguing that the exclusion does not mention surgery and that they are discriminating against me for the size of company that I work for. They do offer this coverage for large groups, but not small gruops, and we can not purchase a rider or differnt policy. They told me to take our premium money elsewhere. They don't pay for much of anything with their small group policy anyway. I would be better off keeping the premiums and paying my medical bills myself.
