Humana Exclusion, can you beat it?

Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone has Humana HMO and beat the exclusion " any treatment to treat obesity including surgery"? Let me know what your process was and did you involve your employer. Not many people on this board seem to have Humana so im curious.

I have been fight this same exclusion since 05/2004. I went as far as the insurance commissioner , they denied they stated that the exclusion is a direct exclusion. Even though i am 423 pounds I have 4 doctor that are tell me humana that wls is medically necessary it doens't matter. I have recently decided to have an internal appeal with my employer, yesterday our power went out at work, elevators were not worker , ambulance had to be called from work to get me because i couldn't breath. I have a lung restriction. So I am hoping that my employers decides to over tunrn the denial and approve wls. My suggestion would be also to find out if you emplyer is self funded. I have never had depression , but i do now due to this roller coaster with humana. they are mean and cruel , the representive don't know anything they will tell you different thing. But good look. If my emplyer is not going to approve. I am going to be able to get on my parnters insurance for wls.,I also tried the attorneys on this website and was told that they couldn't turn this exclusiong around. good luck.
