anyone know how to speak bcbs?

quick catch up... my doc's office mailed all my info in to bcbs of al on 8-04-05 for wls approval. they told me to give them 10 days b/c it may take a while to get in the system. well i called today and spoke with valerie. after a lot of confusing talk about pre-approval being a courtesy, she said that she did not see any info in the computer and to just give it a few more days. now, to my ?, can anybody give me any info on who i need to ask for when calling bcbs, a certain department or something. any advise would BE AWESOME!!!!!! thanks again and again and again! corrie laine

i have bcbs of tx and they took 2 weeks to the day to get my stuff and to descide on my approval. they are annoying but if you can get them to pay you are half way there. dont give up and keep calling..just tell them you are awaiting information on obesity surgery. this is what i did and got my information with less confusion. good luck!! kat

Corrie, Wondering if you have heard anything yet? I too am with BCBS of Al. I have been denied twice now. I did the 6 months diet and now they say I didn't do it and there was no physical from the surgeon which I DID TOO. On the phone they said it was because my bmi was not over 40 with any co morbities. I do have some!! I HATE THEM!! I am going to contact a lawyer now. I am done playing their games!! Let me know what you find out! Karen
