Don't Give Up!
I just wanted to let you know that after a long, long fight that I never believed I would win, I have been approved and will be having surgery on August 25th.
I was denied the first time and was miraculously approved after sending in the appeal letter. My health has gone downhill a good bit during the long, long wait, but at long last, it will be happening for me one week from Thursday.
I cannot believe it. I honestly thought they were going to deny me again.
I just wanted to post here to let you know that miracles do happen. And my insurance is Aetna, one of the worst ones in dealing with WLS.
So, don't give up!
I'm gonna be a loser!

Congratulations Joni. It took me two years and one month of trying to reason with two different insurance companies before I was approved and had the surgery last month. Becoming qualified to join BCBS as administered by the state of Illinois under the I-CHIP plan was what finally did it for me. I could actually work with their administrators! How long was your battle and what do you feel finally won it for you?
Great News Joni!
I am happy to hear that you are approved.
My insurance policy,
anthem bc/bs is thru Lowe's
and they have a solid tight exclusion.
I am going to a surgeon and paying for the visits
my insurance is paying for any tests that I need done,
but not if they think its related to weight loss.
I know I will be denied because I have called and asked
them and they told me they do not cover it.
So I already know I will have a fight on my hands.
You tell me not to give up, I am wondering already if i even have
a chance.
I hope to get his wls because I am going downhill.
I have all kinds of problems due to obesity.
I am truley happy to hear that you are gettting your surgery
and soo sooonn!!!!!
good luck and take care,
Kim
CONGRATULATIONS Joni!!!
I just read your profile and feel like we are twins!
I am fighting with UniCare and they AGREE on the medical necessity. It is now in the hands of the Illinois Attorney General's office.
Anyway............I will be thinking of you next week and praying for your speedy and uneventful recovery!
