BCBS of IL is a joke

I can't believe this insurance company. They need to hang it up as an insurance company. They approved and paid for my WLS and now are stating it was NEVER covered as the plan chnaged as of 11/04 but I should have been notified. I never got NO such letter stating that it was NOT covered anymore. What's funny is they don't even know what they are talking about. First they send a letter to my surgeons office stating the paper work was sent in error with the wrong contract number and now they are saying it NEVER was covered. Donna 338/193

I don't get it. They approved and paid for your surgery. What is it exactly that you're complaining about????

My surgeons office had to send the money back to the insurance company so it's laid in my lap. I either fight it or pay out of pocket. That's what I'm complaining about Donna

There's no way we could have guessed the actual story.... Why would your surgeon be so stupid to send money back??? If they PAID, they don't have a leg to stand on. It was their screw up. I'd go to court and wouldn't even bother with lawyer!

I'm sorry. I should have been more clear on the whole story. I got a letter from my surgeons office stating that she was told that she MUST return the money. I don't know how that all works with these surgeons offices and insurance companies. I'm with BCBS of IL. They cover WLS. They paid for mine. They sent me an approval letter and Explanation of Benefits letters showing what they paid out. If you have those, they are screwed.
