After the Doctor I want to use called to check benefits and was told I have them but I have an 1 year to 18 month waiting period exclusion on my policy.They also were told they would be out of network and I would have to pay out of network which is 60/40 if i use them. Is there a way the exclusion can be appealed? I was never told of this nor can I find it in any of my paperwork...Please help..Teesha

this waiting period depends on if you had prior insurance coverage, i really dont think there is away around this waiting period. i had to wait 1 yr be4 i could apply for any major surgery, and if you have pre-existing conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure will not be a paid doctor visit.

I had bcbs of la , then my job switched to uhc. My husband has Humana PPo. We seperated and he got his own insurance.Due to his job not providing insurance and me dropping him from mines due to us no longer being together.Once he was gone I got into a money bind so I applied for la chip and got approved and got the kids on that and dropped the insurance all together. We got back together and I could not get insurance til our annviersary period, so he added me to his. I was only without insurance for about 20-25 days.But even with my insurance the only time I used it for my last pregnancy. After my baby was born I did not use it for me just for my kids. I have to be real sick to go to the doctor and even then I go to walk in clinics.I do not even have a Pcp.I called and asked Humana did they need proof of prior insurance and they said no.So I do not know what to do. I think this might just be a stall tatic..Teesha
