i beat bluegrass family health
hey everyone.
i might have some advise that would help you. the first time i sent in the request for surgery, i was denied. well they told me i did not have enough documentation. so, i went to my PCP and asked her for ever piece of diet info that was in my folder. Then i went to LA Weight Loss where i picked up my info on my diet there. I sent in all that info. plus a 3 page letter overviewing my life. i talked about every diet i had been on and what it does to me, and i even made it a little said b/c well crap it was truth. I talked about how i wanted to get my nurse practitioning liscenses and have kids and be a football mom. i also said that i thought i was out of options and i didnt want to die before all that could come true. 30 days later they approved me. i was soooo happy. my surgery is august 5th. if anyone needs advise let me know. my email is [email protected] or IM me at sweedishsugar126 on AIM.
sincerely
I sort of plan on doing the same thing. My surgeon has an application that each patient is required to fill out. There is a section there where you are asked to list the diets you have tried.
I have twenty plus years worth of diets! I've written it all out and it takes about two full pages.
I plan on using the tactic of information overload.
I'm going to send a copy of every medical record I have for the past seven years with everything regarding my weight and my comorbidities highlighted.
If I have to write out a detailed letter I will. I'll tell them about what happened a couple of weeks ago when my three year old ran out in the street and was almost hit by an SUV. I couldn't catch him because I'm too fat to run. See my post on the main messageboard titled, "Terrifying day." That experience convinced like none other that I need this surgery.
Congratulations on your approval. How exciting for you.
It's interesting to me to read that your appeal to their emotions worked. I was beginning to wonder if insurance people had emotions, I've heard so many horror stories of dirty tricks that insurances have pulled.
