My mother called me yesterday to tell me that starting July (which is when she can change her insurance over), that no Georgia HMO insurer nore some others (mom checked into 6 of them) will cover WLS anymore. =( My mom cried.. I cried... we were both going to get the surgery. I'm not even 21 yet.. and I'm on blood pressure medication already at this stage in life. I get random swelling and sometimes I'm just in so much mental and physical pain that I can't function. My mother is trying to find out about the Flordia insurers and if she can find a place that she can work that offers WLS coverage.. she's gonna try to move down there as soon as possible so the insurance can kick in and I can get the surgery done. I was going to have a consultation this coming Tuesday.. and hopefully have the sugery this summer... now my hopes have been crushed. Why Georgia insurers are deciding to do this I don't know... I just know I am defantly medically needing this and me nor my mother know what to do. =( If anyone knows anything about a Georgia insurer of Flordia insurer that offer WLS coverage still.. please enlighten me and my mother!

I'm sorry to hear this bad news but at least your mother is on top of things and is trying to make not only your dream but her dream come true. All I can say it DON'T GIVE UP!! Fight, fight to the end. Best of luck Donna 338/227 -111

I was looking at Gary Viscio's website and there was something there about how some states require insurances to pay for WLS even if it's excluded if it's medically necessary. If I were you I'd email Gary Viscio and ask him about all this and see what kind of answers he can give you. I hear he can work wonders. Good luck. Lynda D.

I am so sorry about your situation because i'm going through the same bull. You work so hard to be healthy and bam! a door slaps you in the face. I just pray we all can get through this. I know God will pull us through. You and your mom are brave and loving people and God will not foresake us so stay on you knees in prayer. I am also going to contact Gary Viscio. Iv'e been trying to get approved for 3 years now so don't be dicouraged. During this whole wating and trying period I have had close friends and faimly members go through this process with ease abd I some times wonder is this for me? So that means I know I will see you on the losing side soon!!
