BCBS/UT-Select Approved me!!!!

After a lot stress I received a call from the employee group insurance office telling me they approved my surgery (I can't believe I'm getting to write this!!!!--it feels so unreal).BCBS denied me 3 times (the original and 2 appeals) even though I had a ton of documentation from past failed attempts at medically supervised diets. EGI approved me and said that after reviewing my case they are going change their policy and not require the 12 months of documented medically supervised weight loss within the last 24 months. They are also going to ask BCBS to change their policy--I doubt that will happen. That's why BCBS was denying me--because I didn't have a documented failed attempt at weight loss for a consecutive 12 months within the last 24. The woman at EGI said that I should not only feel good about myself but also feel good for the other people that will now be able to have the surgery. I felt soooooo good. Anyway, if anyone has BCBS/UT-Select read my OH page where I'll list every thing I submitted and all that good stuff. Thank you for all the support when I felt like I wasn't going to get the surgery---and even when I did think I was going to get it! Mary Austin, TX
