Is there anything more I can do?

Well, I got the reponse to my predetermination letter and it was a big fat resounding "NO"! The exact wording is "The medical plan excludes expenses for weight loss programs or treatment of obesity, including morbid obesity." It seems like the end of the road from what I have on this forum. Is there any possiblity that an appeal would be successful? Is a 2nd mortage in my future? Geez, this is disheartening. ~W~

The wording in mine is similar, but I am certainly going to appeal. What insurance company do you have? First of all, it does NOT say "Surgical" treatment. This phrase sounds to me like they are referring to Weigh****chers, Jenny Craig, etc... Secondly, I am going to argue that the surgery IS NOT for the treatment of the Morbid obesity, but for the high cholesterol, high blood pressure, arthralgia, muskoskelatal problems, foot problems, etc.....that will all be potentially cured by getting rid of excess weight. Cross your fingers and say a prayer for me and I will do the same for you. It helps to know that I am not alone in this situation.
