Just a quick question. My husband's insurance policy will pay 90% of surgery if it is "life-threatening". Is there a difference between life threatening and medically necessary? Thanks in advance for your help. Sandy

Who knows what the insurance will say. That sounds like one of those cya things that insurance companies say to cover themselves without having to spend too much. I would think you would have to prove some severe co-morbidities. But who know with insurance companies. Mine says "not covered except for morbid obesity"

Both of these terms should be defined in your Summary Plan Description booklet. (Yes, there is a difference.)
