Denial for skin removal

I have been denied two times by Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Minn to have my extra skin removed, following WLS. I am at my wits end with this Insurance Co. I have appealed it, and have written a formal letter of complaint. I have four Dr's that have written letters to BC/BS, explaining the medical necessity of this surgery. I'm still waiting to hear back from them, hoping after reading my complaint letter, that they will oveturn thier decision and allow my surgery. Do any of you have any suggestions on what I can do next, if they uphold thier decision and do not allow me to have this much needed surgery? Barbara in VA

Do you have any rashes breaking out? I know some people get approved due to break down of the skin where the folds of skin are. Donna 338/248 -90

Thank's Donna for your reply to my message. Yes, I do have the rashes, and all of this was mentioned in the letters to BC/BS from my Dr's. The insurance co has had everything before them, that explains exactly why, 4 of my Dr's strongly feel that this surgery is medicaly neccessary! Infact all the Dr's are outraged that I was denied. It's all because these Ins Co's do not want to pay out any money for this. Yet they always take your money for the coverage. As of today, still no word. I will call them, next week, if I don't hear something soon. Have a great Easter! Barbara

These insurance companies anger me They make billions off us and yet they don't care about our health and well being. Just keep fighting them Best of luck Donna 338/248 -90

Just a thought... A friend of mine was approved after she sent in pictures of the rashes on her body with her appeal letter.
